Groot Brakrivier

Next stop on our trip was the small town of Groot Brakrivier (or Great Brak River). We stayed at the Lavandula Country Guest Cottage which we found on Airbnb.  To be honest, there is not much at all in Groot Brakrivier, but we decided to stay here because we needed a place to stop between Agulhas and Plettenberg Bay. This place looked nice and fit the budget so we decided to stay here to rewind a bit and catch up on work.

Unfortunately, I did not get much work done since I ended up pretty sick from brushing my teeth with the sink water which is pumped from a local dam. (Thank goodness I read the note saying not to drink the sink water otherwise I can only imagine what horrible things would have happened to me.) If you're gonna be sick though, this place is not so horrible. After having stayed at several guesthouse/hostels it was nice to have a space that was just ours, especially the kitchen.  The cottage is located on a farm about 7km away from the actual town of Groot Brakrivier so we truly felt like we were out in the middle of nowhere.

Moral of the story is: if you're on a farm out in the middle of nowhere, don't drink the tap water...or else.
